The Fillmore Family

I am a happy mother of eight children plus one new son-in-law! Sixteen years ago, my husband Kameron and I decided to head a mile north and make Centerville our family’s settling place.

As someone who has always believed in working to shape my surroundings, and in “giving back”, I got involved immediately upon arriving here. I have been working diligently for many years now to preserve our priceless small town feel and our strong sense of community through thoughtful planning. With degrees in both Psychology and Environment and Behavior, I have the tools to help us shape our Centerville environment to be the best it can be. With five years on the planning commission (two as chair), service on other Centerville and regional planning committees and boards, and now 4 years as a Councilperson, you’ll be hard pressed to find someone in Centerville more studied, experienced, and able to make a positive proactive difference.

It’s been a privilege to serve you on the City Council for the last four years. Some of the things I have been working diligently on are:

A Complete Streets Policy created and adopted by the council in 2015
The quality fencing on our new pedestrian bridge and walkway
A strong plan in place for a quality gateway entrance to our city at 1250 West/ Parrish Ln
An exciting plan in place for the redevelopment of Island View Park
Putting in place a plan for a beautified and pedestrian friendly “South Main Street Corridor” (Unfortunately, the current council recently removed this plan, but I will diligently work towards reinstating some version of it)
Working towards a plan to increase our cemetery capacity
Initiating and supporting a high quality West Side Plan (unfortunately was not adopted, but I will continue to work for this important planning)
Advocating for bike lanes, trails and walkability throughout the city and region
Developing a plan for our dilapidated “Pages Lane” corridor
Advocating for a “Street Tree” plan that would greatly beautify our city

Centerville is a unique treasure with nature surrounding us east and west, wonderful neighborhoods citywide, and a vibrant business district. These attributes increase our quality of life, and require careful planning to maintain.

What do I bring to Centerville?

Vision

Being trained and educated as a planner, I look far into the future for the consequences of decisions made now. I have the vision to define goals, and the determination to achieve them.

Perspective

My ability to see the “big picture” is a personal strength. Along with planning for the future, I value preserving our city’s heritage. I am a collaborator, and listen to others for a more complete perspective on the issues.
